This constructs a sole identity for women as being only one or the other. This assumption denies the fact that a career woman can also be a self-sacrificing, nurturing, “real woman” while she continues to pursue her career goals. This dualism has maintained itself through systems of power and time by the mere fact that women themselves do not give each other support. This dualism is stored as an old opression which then facilitates and makes ways for new ones. Women who are stay-at-home mothers feel comfortable and secure then these become more judgemental towards working women that are mothers. This dualism has been created, enforced and prolonged by women. Career women are seen as smart, hard working, organized but not very femenine all in contrast to how stay-at-home women are seen. In order to liberate women’s bodies from this biased dualism women themselves must eliminate this dualism and accept the pursuit of a career by a woman not just as a choice but as a need in life. The more career women there are in this world the more changes of reacing equality there are. A great influence on young girls towards achieving higher education goals are their working mothers so then therefore we must continue to enforce those thoughts and influences to have more professional women.

These obscure thoughts of women thinking that other women cannot be both are the dumbest subjects I have ever encoutnered by family members and friends. I truly believe that women that do not at least try to prosper in the labor force they are not being all that they can be. There is a lot more to a woman than just being a woman of the house, I do understand the importance of providing your undivided attention to your children but a bit too extreme when you do not do anything to be an independent woman even though you live off f your husbands salary or welfare in some cases. I am a hard working individual who is faced with the hard this hard dualism but from another point of view. I am a career woman seeking continued higher education but then again I do want to be a mother. When and how do we know that it is alright to be that or become that mother I have so dearly wanted to be? Women must stop being so judgemental towards women that are mother and work because there are some other women who work but cannot have children because they do and have to survive by using their smarts.

An expectation or assumption I previously held that has been challenged by this weeks assigned readings.

I believed erotic was only a word used to describe a sexual act, desire or even porn. Just hearing the word may make women uncomfortable mostly because they are not well with their own desires. Erotic is commonly used unpproperly nowadays like for example, the word gay. In the fifties gay was used quite a lot like now we hear the word sweet. The erotic is a measure between the beginnings of our sense of self and the chaos of our strongest feelings. The power of the erotic can be easily expressed when a woman speaks her mind. If we speak up about what bothers us then that is considered erotic. Free to feel, say, argue, act and persuade erotic in your life in order to fulfill it. There is nothing wrong about erotic but if you deny it you are neglecting yourself from a lot.

Something I did, read, happened, witnessed, or was involved in this week that resonated with the readings/discussion/film/topics from this week’s class.

An expectation or assumption I previously held that has been challenged by this weeks assigned readings.

I had no expectations or assumptions about the readings because they all caught me off guard. I never suspected I would read such a harsh story in “Word Warrior” it is dramatically sad that we read about her experience with sexual abuse and even worse from a family member. Destroying a child’s and anybody’s dreams, hope, faith and love of life is horribly unimamginable. This and the other stories as well brought a lot of fear and sadness this week because our lives have changed so much our society has been destroyed tremendously that it is surely unsafe to let your child walk to the store on the corner and buy you something without the fear of he/she getting kidnapped, raped, slaughter or molested before coming back home. It is a fear of a woman that wants to have a child, how? is it a good choice to have one more fear our world? From Jennifer DiMarco’s writting these words stood out to me the most,” I spoke about crossing over the boundaries of prejudice to embrace each oter, about the power of challenging the world, reaching for your dreams and accepting only the best.Prejudice is fear of the unknown, child abuse is the fear of innnocence, and fear creates hatred.” We are here, we were born and now we have to walk with a huge guard when alone. It is extremely important for women to take control, burn their fears to make them stronger and fight head on against violence. Courage, strenght, faith and love to all.

Before reading the Jane Fonda, Barbara Bush article, I thought women did not put such a high interest into looks as they do. Nevermind, I take my words back, I thought they were more intelligent than amending to so many rules. This article specifically with details and dates, tells us about the changes Jane Fonda has done to her life and appearance. Jane Fonda has made so many drastic changes in choices and also in personality status. Fonda has worker to keep up a shapely body, she fascinates aging women just because she has a great body then she offers other women of the same age hope and promise, because it is possible for a woman to stay beautiful and sexy in midlife.” Barbara Bush is false as well because she tries so hard to have a true aging look that she ridiculously dedicates too much time on her hair and hides it, so where is the truth.

Ouch, there is a nasty saying in Spanish that says, ” there are no longer ugly women in this world, just poor ones”. I totally hate it but then again there are women that believe it. I have always admired the beauty of a true aging body. From the wide hips, the grey hair and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth in women. To the purity of an aging man’s body, with their bold spots, grey hair and beer bellies. I actually, respect more a woman who decides to keep those grey strands of hair other than dying it and trying to hide life. A life that has passed and you keep looking forwards to is a life you have no regrets from. I may be simple-minded and ignorant if I don’t like plastic surgery, fake boobs and a flat face but you once did have them and if you didn’t I have never heard of anyone dying from not having them ever.

So here, there and everywhere if you are 32, 27, 13 or 68 you are what you are and it is better to act your age and real size because at the end you will never take anything with you.

1. One assumption I had prior to class this week.

First shock, the meaning of ableism. I had never considered such a word in my personal dictionary. The reading defines ableism as defining bodies as broken and tragic. “There are so many ways oppression and social injustice can mark a body, steal a body, feed lies and poison to a body.” Stolen bodies were described as bodies taken for good. The examples given of how unique people are murdered, slaughtered, “euthanized”, etc. are inhumane and shocking. Our identities are linked to our bodies. There are disability activist defined disability as an external social condition that they neglect the daily realities of our bodies, so we must be stronger and prove them weak.

2. Something I did/read/happened/witness or was involved in that designated with the readings/discussion from this weeks class.

The trailer of the movie “Precious” I posted may not all be implicating disability as a body but from my point of view it made me cry this morning when I watched it because I felt this girl was disabled by her surroundings in life and by the abuse. Disabilities are not always like the reading says as well only physical but also emotional. The child that is put in special education because of his/her speech impediment, which is actually a common sig of sexual abuse. Needless to say, this happens to Precious the character in this movie, whom I would give more details about but since I have yet to watch the movie do not have more than those put on the trailer. I became impressed and emotionally overwhelmed by the extreme abuse she lives through and still manages to continue with her education. Another example that came to mind when reading this article was that of a patient that goes to my job to receive acupunture has had to face difficulties getting to the office because of negligence from the landlords. The elevators have not worked correctly in more than one occasion and so therefore the patient could not get upstairs. I went downstairs to try to apologize but nothing I said came out right or curtious. The poor man had a chronic pain attack and there I was STANDING in front of him, useless. I felt ashamed but there was nothing I could do. I was practically word less. Although the man got shot in the back and was not born having to use a wheelchair after talking to him for that bit of time it brought me closer to him and I got a sense of how much we neglect and take for granted the fact that most of us do have our legs to rely on. Now I check the schedule every day to make sure that if he is on the books to go outside by law and supervise the elevator, make sure it is working. Then if not I will give him a call so that he does not make drive to the clinic and waste his time. If I can help in a little way then there I am.

Excuse me to be so “obsene” with the title chosen to this entry, but I would not be shocked to read it. I am truly concerned because a lot of women are not aware that the vaginal orgasm is a myth. Some women still believe that they cannot become pregnant if the man pulls out before his ejaculation, once again excuse my french but WTF. Where do these women life and what are they not reading. Having so much information out publicly and most importantly free how can a woman believe such urban legends. “Frigidity has generally been defined by men as the failure of women to have vaginal orgasms,” what about ignorance? I believe ignorance plays a huge role when it comes to women having a healthy and fulfilling sex life. “Women are fed the myth of the liberated woman and her vaginal orgasm-an orgasm which in fact does not exist.” This also takes me to believe that ignorance or mis-education can lead to woman’s faking of an orgasm. If you still do not know who to get or give an orgasm check this website out, it gives you step by step, it’s free and short. http://www.ehow.com/how_5586881_make-girfriend-orgasm.html

One of our peers compared the vagina to a rubik’s square, which I thought was very dumb. A complete woman is a Rubik’s square and then maybe not. Every woman has different was to demonstrate pleasure when having sex although know everyonw should know that not inside the vagina but in clit. Those is actually a benefit for men because this means that it is truly not important to have a big penis. If you know how to touch then you can get away with a lot more than with 4 inches. No offense but four is my favorite number. This morning I had a client that confessed to me that she had never had an orgasm. I almost was ashamed for her, she has been married for 4 years, got married very young (which probably means that she has not had many sex partners or maybe that her husband has been her only one), this is been trust and communication should take part. This is when more than ever we must trust our expressions and let our man know that we are just not feeling “IT”. Not wait for ever like other women and never experience an orgasm when it is the most delighful event to experince other than eating a good ol’ chocolate cake, ha ha ha!!! SPEAK WOMEN SPEAK!!

Unlike Madonna that writes about virgins being cross-gendered, in this reading we hear JLo praises her butt, now seriously not all Latinas have big butts. It is a trait that is considered attractive to men, just like small feet were for the Japanese culture. Race is essential to our understanding of how body parts represent one’s sexuality. Another connection is Bornstein’s topic: Learning Gender from Class and Race where she mentions “Racial prejudices come into play when looking at gender, women of color, for example have frequently been eroticized as sexual objects by Eurocentric colonial cultures. Women of color haven’t been considred “real women” by manu people higher up on the pyramid, but they’re certainly seen as the most real women by others at a similar level. Subculture specific language even includes name for people who are more perfectly gendered ” (Bornstein page. 174). Factors such as social class, country of origin and current place of residence undoubtedly influence how Latina women view their bodies. According to Negron-Muntaner Lopez represents a three-part voctory for the Puerto Rican community as a whole. One showing ass meaning that that is a sign of identity and pride. Two kissing my ass is a from of a revenfe against a hostile cultural gaze. Three I ‘m going to kick your ass as an economic exploitation implicated in racism.

I found an article where one woman wants JLo’s butt, mouth dropping as it may sound I also thought it was not true but here is the link. http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/entertainment/flatty-batty-cheryl-cole-wants-jlos-butt_100182912.html
